3 Months Old

Sweet baby Miller, you are 3 months old!

Another month has come and gone.  I can hardly believe you have been with us for 3 months now!

There have been lots of changes this month with you...the biggest praise is that you started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks!  You sleep 9-6:30 or 7 which makes me happier than you will ever know.  You go down SUPER easy each night.  We still swaddle you and feed you a big warm bottle and you are out for the count.  I wish your sister would take some pointers on going night night so easily!

We upped you to 6 ounces each feeding and you take 5 bottles a day.  You take a few naps a day, most are still unpredictable.  You still don't nap in your crib but you sleep great each night in there.  Moving you to your room so early was a great decision.

You did get your first ear infection this month which hasn't been fun, but you have been a trooper.  You still have 3 more days of medicine but I am pretty sure it is clearing up.  That really messed up your good sleeping but you are thankfully getting back on track.

You love play time in the floor these days.  You have started gripping onto your toys and rattles and bringing your fist and toys straight to your mouth.  Which brings me to your other news...you are teething!  Your bottom 2 teeth are trying their hardest to break through your little gums and I feel so bad for you.  Three months is very early for all of this but I am hoping you will maybe get it all over with sooner than Ellie did!

You have turned into a sweet, smiley, happy baby and could not imagine life without you.  We love you sweet boy!!

  • They weighed you at the doctor and you are now 14 pounds 7 ounces.

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!

I am linking up for my first Five on Friday Post!

1.  TGIF!  This has been my first week back at working from home and so far, so good.  Miller had his first day at Mrs. Carla's today, so we are hoping and praying he does well!  Big Sis was very excited to have him tag along.  I am sure she will be a big help.

2.  Poor baby Miller has had his first double ear infection this week.  I knew something was up when he quit sleeping through the night and was fussy eating.  We spent my last day of maternity leave at Dr. Amy's office.  We are hoping he is better very soon!

3.  Football season has begun!  Tonight kicks off with our jamboree.  You better believe we will be there ready to cheer them on to victory.  Tuesday night was a meet the players/ice cream social.  These 2 were decked out in their orange, no doubt!

4.  Peeps and DeDe left Wednesday for an 18 day trip/cruise all over Europe!  We hope they have a fantastic time.  DeDe bought 200 international text messages for her phone so we are hoping to hear from them SOON!

5.  Dance has started back and Ellie is loving it just as we expected.  I ordered her 2 new leotards because she had outgrown hers from last year.  I am loving the simple solid black!

That's all I've got...Happy Weekend!!

Three and a half

I am way behind on blogging.  Life with 2 kids is BUSY.  When there is a spare moment, I usually just want to sit down and do nothing or attempt to cook a meal, or have a conversation with my husband.  None of those happen as often as I would like, but we are getting there!  I am officially back to work now which means more computer time for me. Maybe the blog won't be so neglected.  We will see.

Anyway, I thought since Ellie turned 3 1/2 on July 26th that she needed a little update.

Our dear, sweet girl.  Wow has she grown up over the last 12 weeks.  The minute she walked into the delivery room on Miller's birthday she seemed so old to me, and it literally broke my heart.  I knew she would be the BEST big sister, but I also knew there would be a time of transition and adjustment on her part.  She was the QUEEN of everyone's universe, the first grandchild on both sides, and the light of our lives.  She still is!  There is just one other little person in our house that requires more of my attention than she would like some days:)

Overall, I have to say she has adjusted well.  But we definitely have our moments!  "Mommy, put Miller down and come play with me."  Is the one I hear most often.  She is not starved for attention by any means, but she does not want us to forget that she is still there too.  I would have to say that our biggest challenge with her right now is her listening and following directions.  Yes, I know she is THREE.  But she hears us and understands what we are saying.  Sometimes she just chooses not to listen.  She is way too young for "selecting hearing" already!

She absolutely LOVES Miller.  Almost too much sometimes!  It is very sweet but we have to remind her to leave him alone and tone her voice down about 100 times a day.  I know it isn't always fair for her to have to be quiet just because there is a baby sleeping, but I swear her volume level increased times 100 after he came home from the hospital.

Her sleeping is much better than it was early on.  There have been many nights when Miller has slept better than she has but thankfully that has improved greatly.  She still loves to craft, sing, and go to dance.  She attended every VBS in town and loved every minute.  She loves clothes and picking out her outfits.  Many days she stays in dress up clothes all day long.  She is still a picky, picky eater but some days she will try something new.

Fav foods:
Chicken nuggets
fries
plain buttered noodles
apples
peanut butter
cheese tortillas
chips and cheese dip
granola bars
cereal
popcorn
milk
orange juice
string cheese
yogurt
corn on the cob
okra
pancakes (new!)

She would love to start school ASAP, and we are hoping to get her into Pre-K next year.  I know all parents think their kids are smart, but I really think Ellie will thrive once she gets into a structured learning environment.  She knows all of her colors, shapes, and can recognize almost every letter in the alphabet.  She can count to 30 and write her name.  She loves puzzles, writing and drawing and her babies.  There isn't a toy in her room that doesn't get played with.  She has an imagination that you wouldn't believe.  Her imaginary friend "Molly" is around daily and she comes up with some of the craziest stories about her.  I love seeing her come up with new games or things to play with.  She really blows me away sometimes!

So yes, we have had some difficult days with her this summer but that was to be expected.  She is still our sweet, fun loving little girl that has turned into such an awesome BIG sister.  I can't believe how fast she is growing up.

Two Months Old

Sweet baby Miller, you are TWO months old!  How can that be!?!?!

You have really started waking up this month.  You show us your big pretty eyes for longer periods of time during the day but really only take one good nap a day.  You are more of a cat napper, but I am hoping that will change.  You are now eating 5 ounces of sensitive formula mixed with rice cereal.  That has really helped with some bad gas issues you were dealing with.  We went last week for your check up and of course you were perfect!  Those dreaded shots were NO fun, but you tolerated them okay and were just a little fussy the day after.

Your sleeping is getting better, but we still aren't there yet!  You go down very easily around 9 each night and are only eating once each night between 1 and 2 am then sleeping until around 6.  You sometimes nap after that feeding, but other times you just lay around, and kick and talk.  Each day is different with you!

You were so happy and content while we were waiting to see Dr. Amy

Your smiles melt my heart!  You talk and coo and grin quite a bit.  I love it so much!

You are wearing 3 month and some 3-6 month clothes and still a size 1 diaper.

Two month stats:
Weight:  13 pounds (75 percentile)
Height:  22 3/4" (>25 percentile)
Head:  40 3/4 cm (> 90 percentile)

You are our big, sweet boy and we couldn't love you more!!

Your Daily Dose of Cuteness

DeDe and I kind of have a texting addiction with one another.  I seem to not be able to stay away from picture texting her all day long.  It helps the distance seem not so far!

So anyway, I try to send her a daily picture (or 2 or 3) and jokingly call it "her daily dose of cuteness."  Here are a few more I just had to share!

I've been braiding the top of E's hair when she's having a wild hair day.  I think it looks so cute on her!

This sweet boy is just too cute when he smiles.  We all act like crazy people anytime we get a grin out of him!

I hesitated on ordering this bubble because I thought Ellie would look too big in it.  Good thing I thought otherwise because I LOVE it!

Another sweet smile from our happy baby.

I wish I could find more matching outfits for them.  This is one of the few they have that they wore last week to church.  If we are friends on Facebook then you saw the lovely gem of a picture where Miller is screaming and Ellie is flipping out.  Priceless!

My big girl ready to go on our walk.  She of course had to dress the part!  She also recently got new tennis shoes.  Don insisted she needed "real" tennis shoes so we broke down and found some that we all agreed on.  Of course Ellie would have loved the sparkly hot pink and green Skechers but mean old momma wouldn't go for those!

Miller and Evie matching in their souvenirs from our Austin wedding weekend.  Sweet babies!
The ice cream man paid us a visit the other night after Don drove all over the neighborhood chasing him down.  Ellie thought it was the neatest thing ever.
Football is starting up which means there will be many nights that I am on my own at bedtime.  This past Monday was one of those nights.  I would just like to say I had both of them fed, bathed and OUT by 9 pm.  I was pretty proud of myself!!
Not quite sure what possessed E to write all over herself, but she did!  Needless to say ink pens are now off limits when she wants to craft/write/draw.

Fun on the 4th

We celebrated Ellie's fourth 4th this past week.  How is that possible??
John, Tori and Knox invited us to join them on a last minute trip to the lake.  We jumped at the chance for a little family getaway and had a great time!  Packing and planning for an infant is never easy, but once we got there we were able to relax and enjoy our time with everyone.

Ellie had only been to the lake once when she was around 18 months old so this was a new experience for her.  I am pretty sure she loved every minute!

Frosty, Alyse and Halton joined us too.  Fun times with sweet friends.

Tori was our captain and did a great job, I must say!

This girl is just too much sometimes.  She keeps us on our toes, that's for sure!

Baby brother loved the boat ride and was so good the whole trip.  We are still working on his sleeping habits, but I keep telling myself it has to get better soon...or at least I hope.

We went down to the dock that night to watch the fireworks.  It was a great show and Ellie even braved a few sparklers of her own.

These two always have the best time and play so well with one another.  I can't wait to watch them grow up together!

Miller took some excellent boat naps:)  I think being outside was relaxing for him!

Tori's grandparents were such sweet hosts.  We ate some delicious food and just had a great time hanging out.  Definitely a Fourth of July to remember!

Ellie's Dance recital

Right after Ellie's 3rd birthday, I called around about putting her in dance lessons.  I fully expected for them to all tell me she had to wait until this Fall to start, but to my surprise the first studio I called said she could begin right away!

I hesitated at first but decided to take her to visitors day and check it out.  She hopped right in and took to it almost immediately!

On May 17, (4 days before my due date) her studio held their recital in McKenzie.  I was a nervous wreck that entire week before hand that I would go into labor and would miss the whole thing.  I knew there were plenty of people that could help get her dressed and ready, but it would have absolutely killed me if I had to miss it!  Thankfully Miller decided to wait and allowed me to be at his Big Sister's big night!

She looked so cute and did SO well!  She was by far the youngest in the class and had only been taking since February.  I was very impressed with how well she did for such a short time!  Their ballet routine was to the Elvis song, "Hula Baby" and their tap dance was to "Chicken Chow Mein".  Both were super cute and really funny to watch.  The baby class is always my favorite because they are so little and sweet.  I ordered the DVD and can't wait to see it.

Ellie was showered with flowers and gifts from the many friends and family that drove near and far to watch her dance.  They will never know how much it meant to us to have them there!

This picture will always be extra special to me because it is the last picture I have of just me and my girl before she became a big sister. Hard to believe Miller was born just 2 days later!  No wonder I was waddling the halls after the recital was over.  I am pretty convinced that night is what put me into labor.  HA!!

She is already asking about taking next year so I guess we will be making the weekly trip to McKenzie again.  She really loves to perform!
