The House of P's

When Rachel and Matt came to visit last weekend, I was excited to show off and use all of our new things. This quickly turned into a running joke that lasted all weekend. Every time I would turn around I would find a gift that either had a P or our monogram on it! We have everything from wine bottle stoppers and yard flags to doormats, hand towels and napkins. Every guest will be sure to know that our last name begins with a P! I am sucker for all things monogrammed, but I think we are good to go in the "P" department. Come to think of it, my shower curtain still has a Y on it (yes, even my shower curtain is monogrammed)...maybe that will be the last thing we update:)

Running out of room!

With a recipe shower, a tea, couples shower, lingerie shower, handyman shower, bridal shower, and a wedding...needless to say we are over run with wedding gifts. I am not complaining one bit about being so lucky to have received SO many wedding gifts, but we simply do not have the room for all of them! Don has officially moved in to my 3 bedroom house (built in 1956) and unfortunately older homes do not come with the closet space as homes do now. Luckily having all of this nice new stuff has prompted me to clean out everywhere! I started in the kitchen and pretty much got rid of everything. I sent about 6 boxes full of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, silverware and small appliances to my parents storage building for my brother to have (whenever the day does come) for him to move out!

I was so proud to have that much done that I kept going. I went through clothes and did piles of laundry. I sorted through and found more to give to Goodwill. I swear Don has just as much if not more clothes than I do! The t-shirts he has alone are just ridiculous! He bought 2 new t-shirts while we were in Jamaica and I told him if he bought 2, then he had to get rid of 4 when we got home. That still hasn't happened. I am tempted to go through his dresser one day and clean them out myself. I promise he probably would never notice!

After feeling so productive and getting the house halfway back in order, Matt and Rachel come to visit last weekend! They were our first guests since we had been home from the honeymoon and we had a great time. I really enjoyed cooking for them and using all of our nice new stuff! I love my everyday dishes we registered for at Babcock's gifts, we also used our new stemware and flatware as well as a new salad bowl. I am much more particular about all of our new things now that we have nicer stuff. Before I didn't care as much because it was just your basic stuff to get by.
Now there's just one more problem, I have all of this china and crystal...but no china cabinet! Guess we should add that to our wish list:)

You want to know the other downfall to receiving so many gifts?...The thank you notes.

Guess I better get on that instead of this blog:)

Minnie the explorer

I know I have already posted once today, but I keep thinking of things I want to write about! I really thought it would be the other way around since I don't consider our life to be that interesting, but I guess that's the beauty of a blog. I know I enjoy reading every blog I have come across.

So I know I mentioned in my previous post about us putting in a new fence, and boy do we need it! I let Minnie out earlier this afternoon, and I go off and start doing somethig around the house. Usually I let her out, she does her thing, chases a squirrel or two, then comes scratching at the door for me to let her back inside. After what seemed to be too long for her to be outside, I went to the back door to look for her. I did not see her and she did not come running when I yelled "Minnie, want a treat?" Normally if I am in a hurry in the morning or need to go somewhere, that's the trick that gets her back inside quickly. So, I did what I always do when I freak out, called Don. He is still at work but said he would be there to look for her as soon as he could. Luckily he only works about 4 minutes away so I was relieved. As soon as we hung up I put my shoes on and went outside through the front door to look for her. The minute I yelled her name, here she comes running at me and so happy to see me! I felt like Jason and Ty on the Bachelor! I felt so elated to see her and we hugged and I teared up! (I NEVER thought I would be this way about a dog). The minute I found her, Don pulled up coming from the other direction with his head out the window yelling for her. I was proud of myself for finding her on my own, but boy do we need a new fence! Our backyard backs up to a busy street and I freak out about her getting out again and getting hit by a car. I took her in almost 3 years ago as a stray...I don't intend on her becoming a stray again! Bring on the new fence!

The Pitt's!

We are finally married! Every aspect of our wedding was fabulous, and I am actually very sad it is all over. It all went by too fast and I would do it over again in a heartbeat! We are so grateful to all of our wonderful family and friends for all they did to make our day so special. From the showers and parties, to our spectacular honeymoon in Jamaica, we couldn't have asked for more. We were married at my home church, Bartlett United Methodist, and our reception was at the Pink Palace Museum. I was so pleased with the food, flowers, decor, music, and most of all our 300+ guests that seemed to have such a great time! The only downfall to the day was that Don was sick with the stomach bug:( After being sick all day, he pulled through, put on a smile and still seemed to have a great time. After we left our reception and headed downtown to our hotel, we made our driver stop and get Don some gatorade and I was starving! Luckily our caterer packed us a to go box of yummy crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops, mini cheeseburgers, wedding cake and roast beef on rolls. Once we got to our room I was shoving the tasty treats down my throat rather quickly because the smell was making Don sick! I was tempted to sit out in the hallway of the hotel in my wedding dress and finish snacking but in the end I decided to save his stomach and set the rest of the leftovers out in the hall for the maids to pick up.
We are adjusting to married life well and have been busy making to do lists of all of the things we want to do. We are planning on replacing our fence in the backyard over spring break, purchasing a new leather recliner for Don, and saving $$$ for our trip to Hawaii in June! Lots of fun and exciting things happening at the Pitt house, and we couldn't be more excited:)
